- DescriptionI’m very pleased to offer this striking circa-1910 Early Electric Mission chandelier with a japanned finish!BACKGROUND: For much of the 19th-century, gas lighting was the norm. In the last decade of the century, electric lighting started to make inroads, and gas/electric combination fixtures became popular. During the first decade of the 20th-century, gas lighting waned in popularity, and all-electric fixtures became widely available. As such, the fixture listed here represent a new era in the history of lighting. Which is kinda cool. The fixture is brass and with a delicious japanned (copper and black) electroplate finish. The frosted shades are hexagon-shaped, and feature distinctive V-shaped insets of clear glass. The fixture is scaled for dining or living room. All the wiring is new, and the visible wiring is cloth-covered like the original. Nice.NOTE: The fixture will be shipped partially dismantled. The long stem will be removed; it will be easy to reattach. This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs (not included). Clear Edison-style LED bulbs would look well. COLOR: See above. SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 31-inches and is 21-inches wide, diagonally. I can adjust the length. The fitters are 2-1/4-inches. CONDITION: The only issue is the turn-key to one socket has a small chip to one corner. The turn-key sockets are original (and in fine shape) with new wiring and paper insulators. The japanned finish has some overall age spotting. SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
